I think it will happen Swim, it's been my experience that if something can happen or be done then it will be.To a scientist it is a fascinating and exciting subject and they will not resist the challenge.
Unfortunately some of the more useful discoveries have also been used against mankind on the battlefield.
I wonder if this will eventually be the demise of the human race.
There was talk that Aids was in fact originated in a lab.

I was really thinking about the use of pigs to create medicines or organs, and the reaction of 'a certain section of society'. Presumably, they would absolutely refuse any such help.
