I have never understood why some people are so precious about second hand clothing. After all, when you buy something supposedly new you never know how many people have tried it on before you, do you? Some things may even have been worn before being returned. I have found some real bargains and, like Julie, I am handy with a needle so can buy purely for the fabric and make something completely different.Re: Second-hand clothing

I once bought an old fox fur coat, hip length, with 3 toggle-like closures. It appeared to be a 1930's or 1940's style, and well kept with no damages. I got many compliments on it. Another time, I bought a really cute white lace dress and a cranberry velvet mini-skirt (when mini-skirts were in) at a local flea market. Total cost for the two pieces $1.50! Of course this was in the early 70's, but it was still a bargain.Re: Second-hand clothing
I love to trawl charity shops. Two days ago I bought three hard back recipe books in new condition for 40p each. Lovely illustrations too.
