There is a strict order of preference in terms of who gets what.

The most that an ordinary shareholder can lose is his losses as a result of his shares tanking. For example I lost £36000 when a company I had invested in crashed and burned in the .com collapse.

Kingspan may or may not bear some responsibility but until where responsibility actually lies has not yet been determined and so neither does where liability lies be determined.
Not yet ?? Todgy, l have no problem with ordinary shareholders ,
majority shareholders are the problem l! They have very little say
in running the company and so bear little responsibility when things go
pear shaped, in fact it is mostly their money that is spirited away
just before thenwheels come off, together with any recent purchases
made through the company?

"Ordinary" refers to the type of share that is held, not the shareholder per se. As for assets bought by the company as assets they form part of what the liquidator gathers together in order to establish the residual value of the business in order to determine how much can be distributed between creditors - if anything.
