Re: Heat

I've got to avoid the sun due to my chemotherapy. I was out in it for just 30 minutes today, walking on the shady side of the street.

Hey Tess, I do that do.

I shut different blinds or curtains as the sun moves round.
It really does make a difference.

We don’t use central air but do this. We open the windows at night while it’s cool and close them first thing in the morning along with closing the curtains. If your house is insulated well it helps keep it cool and less humid. Of course we use a dehumidifier as well.

We have just been through a heat wave and I don’t particularly like it. It’s too hot and uncomfortable. Luckily we have a lot of ceiling fans in our house which helps.

Re: Heat

Sorry everyone - but I loathe it - heat makes me feel ill all the time. Can't concentrate, can't do anything. Spend most of the day sleeping - which is such a waste of time.

Re: Heat

I don't like it as warm as it is, 20C is hot enough for me, I am staying indoors as much as possible.

Re: Heat

i.m loving every minute of it and wish it could stay like this all the time. The sunshine does wonders for my mood as I suffer SAD terribly in the winter months.

I keep my bedroom window open and a fan on at night, i.ve had no trouble sleeping.

We took our dog for a long walk last night but we waited until 7pm as the dog struggles with the heat.

We lived in Spain for a couple of years and it was like this for much of the year, loved it.

Re: Heat

Another here who doesn't like the heat, you can put an extra jumper on if it is cold but can't regulate your temperature in the same way when it is hot.
I made insulated curtain liners for many windows to keep the house warm in the winter, they help to keep it cool in summer too.

When I feel too hot I run cold water over my wrists, it feels lovely .

Chloe is 10 now and loves the sun but it is too hot for her and she will only walk any distance after dark.

My poor vicar daughter has a burial to do at lunchtime, she will have on her robes and can't wear a sunhat with them.

Re: Heat

Funny how I've never had a problem sleeping in hot countries but find it uncomfortable here.

I think it may be because they have cool marble floors - can't think of any other reason...

Re: Heat

Hi

I was wired up on an exercise machine earlier, far too hot for something like that.
