I thought I'd got a battery in the kitchen drawer, but it seems I haven't, so I will pop down to Wilko's in a mo and get a new one.

Mups I know you had a bad night and all the messing about you had to do to take the battery out to stop its beeping. But at least you know the battery has run out and not that it stopped without you knowing.

Reading this thread has reminded me - No, not to replace the batteries, but to replace (with new ones) our non-exsistant smoke alarms...The ones that I took down and threw away,several years ago when we decorated and we never replaced them
