Re: spitting

I remember as a child there used to be signs all over the lamp posts telling people not to spit but it used to be older people doing it, now it seems to be children of 8 and upwards. WHY??? Cant understand why they do it myself.

I always remember as a child, I was at the seaside and I saw an elderly Nun do that nose thing, I was absolutely shocked and horrified, I was brought up as a strict catholic and Nuns were like Jesus to me at that age, the vision has always stayed with me.

Re: spitting

Being brought up in a coal mining area, we were used to seeing the miners cough up their phlegm and coal dust and spit it out onto the street. The mines have been closed for years now but you still see some of the old miners doing it, very few now though, thank goodness....

Re: spitting

There's absolutely no excuse for spitting in the street or anywhere else.

As has already been said, a hanky or a packet or tissues doesn't cost the earth.

It isn't something I witness very often thank goodness but, when I do, it makes me feel physically sick.

Even somebody with a medical condition has no excuse for fouling the pavements and, in case you didn't know, it is still illegal to do that and the person can be fined, if a bobby catches them.
