I disliked spam, even moreso when it was fried but that was all most failies could afford years ago so it was a case of eat it or go without.A little story .... my son-in-law said his mother used to give him spam sandwiches every day for his lunch when he started work. His workmates ribbed him so much about it that they gave him the nickname Spam .... he is still called that by some of his mates today
