Re: What, if any, phrases, drive you nuts?

I would like to say something wise about people being lucky to hear things that irritate, madden or bring on attacks of hatred (bit strong) I mean you could be deaf but looking on the bright side you would never go nuts. But I am not wise so I won't.

The idea came from a lady I knew, her husband snored and they rowed about it all the time. She would come to work really wound up about his snoring and would moan about him constantly. When he died suddenly she was devastated and said that she wished she could hear him snore once more. It is something I have never forgotten and try to be a little more tolerant because of it.

Thats a coincidence, hubby snores and because I need to stay asleep otherwise I will be up all night - I got angry with him... I then apologised and said its not your fault, you cant help it ... The reason I said that to him was because I had the very thought your friend said to you.

I find it amusing when people say 'literally' before a statement to emphasise a point. For example, to quote a footballer:

Jamie Redknapp: "That cross to Rooney was literally on a plate."

Hmmm, no it wasn't!

Another response I hate is when wishing someone a time or holiday. 'I will.'

What happened to good old fashioned 'thank you'?

Actually yes - that irritates me: how do they know they will? They might have a rotten time for all they know! Saying 'thank you' is all that is required really.
