Re: Do you listen to poetry?

I'm glad you enjoy poetry Mojo, but I can't stand it, never could, hated it in school and anytime I had to listen to it. I like the old limericks however, do you know this one?, 'There was an old Woman God bless her, she threw her leg over the dresser....I forget the rest. Thank God says you.

I love them Topaz!, the best limerick ever written (I.M.O.) was 'The Ball of Inverness', and you being Scottish must agree with me, I've heard lots or them over the years, but that one beats them all. Take care.

Re: Do you listen to poetry?

two favorites of mine:

" To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour."

Wordsworth

"There was a young lady from Ealing
Who had a peculiar feeling
She lay on her back
And opened her mouth
And spat all over the ceiling"

Isn't Ball of Inverness sung after rugby matches - in the bath - not that I would know, of course.

Re: Do you listen to poetry?

Thanks for linking me up Topaz, yes thats the one. the first time I heard it was in the 60's, Luke Kelly of 'The Dubliners' recited in in a pub full of footballers (all Men) and he brought the house down. Luke spent a lot of time touring Scotland before the Dubliners were formed.
