Re: Where Coca Cola comes from!
I don't now about this but in college we were told that coca cola was grown in large flat fields, the plant never grows higher than 20 inches and has to be picked before the midday sun to prevent wilting. It likes lots of water and was originally caltivated in south america by enthusiastic slaves interested in horticulture. Those who can remember say that the raucous songs they sang could be heard for miles. A well endowed slave could pick up to 80 sheaves of coca cola in a single day. Bonuses were traditionally paid to the top three slaves and free bacardi was given to slaves of age, as a thank you for their daily efforts in the fields.
The raw coca cola was then cut and mashed in large open stone pots several feet across and rust and white pepper was added. This mixture was heated over a slow fire for several hours before being straied through white muslin bloth.
Various other ingredients were added buy the slaves to show their appreciation to their masters. It took a further 8 months of fermentation before the brew was ready.
The finished drink was always viewed as a delicacy by the slave masters who would give it to their special guests at masked balls and garden parties. There were always lots of "things"at the garden party some things were nicer than others but most people agreed " things go better better with coca cola".
