Another in my series of exciting travel videos on the road less travelled.
I forgot to include this clip in my other video but I thought it might be something you don't see every day.
It is wise to stick to any established routes on these lake beds depending on the last time it rained. sometimes what looks to be a solid surface is actually a thin crust covering soft dust or mud. You can easily get bogged, this has happened to many a Chinese visitor on the salt lakes further south or west who thought a picture of them driving on a shiny bed of salt would make a good picture for the folks back home.
I have friends who live on an island and we've driven across the lake to visit them many times. As long as the ice is at least 20 centimeters thick you can drive a car on it. Oh yes, studded winter tyres of course
I am glad you enjoyed it, I forgot to mention that you can see a cloud of dust from my son's car in the far distance.
BTW that "bing, bing" noise is my Sat Nav telling me I am speeding, the speed limit is actually 100kph or 110kph (but who is going to check?) but the sat nav thinks it is 50kph for some reason (when it thinks it is on a road)
