Re: Who says we don't have a housing shortage???
I think some people must have been asleep for the last few years and totally missed the 'local area Development Plans' for each area of the country including my own area where 28,000 new houses are being built.Re: Who says we don't have a housing shortage???
Some of us lost all that years ago. Where I am used to be one of three villages, now we are just part of the larger town, lost all the greenery between them. To me it's just someone else's turn I am afraid.Re: Who says we don't have a housing shortage???
As I said in an earlier post on another thread, in our part of London new developments are being built on every square inch of land. Not a single one is social housing. All the flats, apartments etc (one bed flat starting at £350,000, 3 bed starting at £500,000) are for wealthy incomers. Meanwhile youngsters here are starting their married lives in filthy bed sits for which they are paying £1250 and more a month. Further, as Meg pointed out above, there has been no infrastructure investment to accompany the increase in population - no extra doctors, dentists, school places, hospitals (they are being cut not increased) or social workers.Re: Who says we don't have a housing shortage???
