UK has a new coalition government

What do you think?

I posted this last night:

One thing seems evident... Lib dems have pumped 10 years of modernisation into the tory party in 4 days - nice one CLeggy!

Now let's see how much more they can do

If anyone's interested, you can watch the first joint press conference in full here.

Re: UK has a new coalition government

Azz, I think it could work, watching Clegg & Cameron at the press conferance I could see two people who are dedicated to trying a change in the way things are done in government and who genuinly share a common goal of strong stable government. Both kept talking about the next election in 5 years which will give the markets a lot of confidence.

Now all the great British public has to do is grit their teeth and be ready to pay more for everything (VAT is bound to go up) earn less (If you're middle to top earners tax is bound to go up) and expect less from central government (the waste that we all know exists in the civil service has to be reduced)

Of course in this greed orientated society that we live in there are bound to be howls from those who have in the past borrowed beyond their means and those who can't live like the footballers and entertainers they so idolise. Well I say to hell with them, let them learn the hard way that their previous lifestyle was at the root of our finacial problems and now they will pay for it.

Good luck to the Lib Dem Con coalition, Good luck to Cleggy & Camers and good luck to those who voted them in.

ETA:-
I'm very glad Vince Cable has got the business portfolio, it always seemed to me that he talked a lot of sense and for those who don't know he was a senior director in a multi-national company for many years so he knows what he's talking about.

I like Vince Cable too

Do agree with you and those who think they are celebrities! People need to start looking at the bigger picture and not just always think about themselves.

I still hate Tories! That "marriage" will last 6 months at least then the ball will burst! Coalitions don't work! Well that's what I think anyway! I think there is talk already of upting the National Insurance Stamps - they never wasted much time!

I wish them all the luck in the world.
Stating when the next election will be shows how determined they are to succeed.
I for one would not mind if VAT, Tax etc went up as long as it gets us out of the mess we are in.

At least it can not be as bad a Nu-Labour turned out to be.

I`m no tory-I remember Thatcher but I hope this cobble does work.

As a life long Liberal I feel sorry for Clegg-he was damned whatever he did.

I rather fear the Lib Dems will be slaughtered come the next election

Interesting, isn't it? Maybe the shape of the future?
Who knows what will happen - I wouldn't want their job for all the tea in China
Sad to see media sharks already circling - more interested in getting a good angle and viewers/readers than in the country maybe making progress on the finacial mess we are in

It is like anything else, the media are only happy when they run people down, they think it sells papers. Not to me, I have not bought a newspaper ( apart fom the local rag)for over 25years.
I do not watch much TV either so they are wasting their time as far as I am concerned.

I wish all the knockers would shut up and Give the Coalition a chance.

Re: UK has a new coalition government

I just hope they have the strength and courage to do the right thing by our country. They are going to be very unpopular because of all the cuts they will have to make, I just hope the public whatever their political views give them time to get a grip. I also hope they can keep scandals and rumours down because its all still very fragile and one hint of wrong doings could be their downfall. I don't support either party but they are our government and as such have my support in getting it on its feet again, lets hope the media is behind them as well.
