Haiku
Tabby’s been doing Haiku,
It sounds like Yoga to me,
But when I looked on’t internet,
There are no Lycra clad bodies to see.
It’s to do with writing poems,
Of Japanese origin I’m told,
It’s not a new invention,
It’s actually quite old.
Counting syllables is the game,
Lines of five and seven and five,
But to actually achieve this,
Quite hard one’s got to strive.
There’s no downward dog in Haiku,
No bending or stretching done,
Despite a lot of thinking,
It’s supposed to be quite fun.
I had a go at writing it,
But found it awfully tough,
After an hour my brain was hurting,
So I decided I’d had enough.
I’ll stick to rhyming couplets,
I just turn some words around,
To butcher the English language,
Is quite easy, I have found.
