There were many little poems/codes, in use, in order to help people remember things.
This one was for the colours of the bands, on a resistor, or the colours of wires used in electricity/electronics.
Back in the day, a Computer would be wired up with each colour representing the voltage carried.
Not any more.
Remember any others?
I didn't know the one quoted above.
The poem I learned for the resister codes in the early 1960s is, quite rightly, illegal or at least improper to repeat except in my head.
It concludes: "...rape our young girls but virgins grow wise".
Black Brown Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet Grey White
Some things you can never forget.
Here's another combination I can't forget - do you know what they are for?
Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, Slate
As bit of a clue I stopped needing to remember them in the early 1970s when I ceased working in that industry
