I'll tell a story loosely connected to this.
Years ago, the local council started this education scheme. Oversimplified, if 5 people could be found to learn a particular subject, then they would finance it at the local night school.
A female friend was telling me that she would like to learn basic car maintainance. Checking oil, swapping tyres, thing like that. Several other girls expressed the same interest, so the council was approached. They turned it down, because it was aimed only at women!
There was a happy ending when a local driving school ran the course - for free! The way I see things, if these courses were common, then perhaps
everyone would be able to do these tasks - including some men!
Edit: As well as having the confidence to do them.
