Re: What's in a name?

Maybe we should be changed to "Life begins at 50" ...... we all seem so young at heart here!

Re: What's in a name?

Being over 50 doesn't bother me at all, I'm 54 actually, and it means I can get into the over 50's swimming hour twice a week at our local pool which means no kids are allowed in so there's no kids splashing all around you. Over 50's forum sounds great to me. Well done Azz.

The name doesn't bother me, I was looking at forestry commission camp sites in the New Forest, they do 30% discount for over 55's it took ages for the penny to drop that that is me! I keep forgetting that I am nearly (3 years to go) an OAP, I just can't comprehend it!

I think it`s the `over` bit. As in Over the hill. It signifies a passing rather than things to come.
I like the Life begins one...

Erh ........ ladies don't forget - retirement age has changed for some of us. I will not be an OAP or entitled to claim my pension until I am 62.5 yrs old. Worth checking whether that applies to you or not .................

Re: What's in a name?

Ooh I had better look into that, I hadn't planned to retire anyway, I am the youngest person on reception where I work, it funds my expensive hobby! Out of 5 of us 3 are of retirement age now!

BTW my sister is semi-retiring 1 September!
