I think weight loss as one gets older is because one gets less active as one gets older therefore you need less fuel hence you eat less.Re: Is it normal for appetite to decrease as I get older?
Your metabolism can also slow as you age so less food is required generally. Personally I find that it's no longer being able to be quite so active but still having a good appetite that puts the weight on. Food, of the right type, consumed should equal the activity undertaken, going either side of this will result in either gaining or losing weight. The secret is to find the middle ground.Re: Is it normal for appetite to decrease as I get older?
hi JohnRe: Is it normal for appetite to decrease as I get older?
Since age 65, my appetite has diminished considerably. I do snack a bit more , but I don't pack away my main meal the way I used to. A decade or so back, I could easily consume a 1/2 kilo steak and a baked potato. Now, a 250 gram steak and 1/2 a baked potato is a challenge. After that I fall asleep like a well fed infant.Re: Is it normal for appetite to decrease as I get older?
