Re: Nature

I have just put a photo of a bug I saw the other day in my album as I cant seem to get it on here.
I dont have a clue what it is ... at first I thought it was a grasshopper of some kind ..but it didnt hop it walked and you can just see it has what looks like a sword coming out of his back end (pale brown) which looked sharp. Any one any Idea what it is ?

Re: Nature

A lot of people have said they have not seen many ladybirds this year.
I was pruning a rose bed and....
found these in my bag of prunings

This one in the buxus hedge around rose bed

In total I rescued 34 from my pruning bag and counted 23 in the buxus hedge(before releasing the pruning bag captives)
When I went for a cuppa tea I left prunings and secateurs on my bag.
When I got back
on secateurs

on hip of pruning

Re: Nature

I'd say the 'sword' was an ovipositor. It is only visible when bug is laying or about to lay eggs.

Re: Nature

I spotted the deer as I drove past, stopped and backed up to watch them

She also saw me...thought for sure she would lead her kids away, fast! But she stayed..

And they were gone...hugs,Shirley
