I worked with a bloke in London who told me that the furthest he had been overseas was the Isle of Wight and that was because he was stationed there with the RAF looking after the radar (I think it was his National Service).
Thanks Gasman - they are makng progress but were held up by a fire at a factory below.
Bruce - there was an RAF radar station above Ventnor in the south of the island during WW2. Cushy posting if you ask me.
