The NT has no speed limit on some of its roads in particular the Stuart Hwy from Alice Springs to Darwin (some of it has a limit of 130kph), on the SA section the limit is 110kph.
I was amazed how few people take advantage of the open speed limit. I drove for hours at about 112kph all day on cruise control (best fuel economy at that speed) and was overtaken 5 times 3 of those vehicles were doing only a few kph more than me. The only thing I over took were road trains and trucks (limited to 100kph) and the odd caravan who generally limit themselves to 80/90kph for fuel economy.
In spite of the motoring groups and the occasional speeder clamouring for higher speed limits there doesn't really seem to be much demand for them.
