Re: Anyone got tinnitus?

My mother in law is 81. She started to hear music in her head. High pitched things like jingle bells. At first she didn't say anything thinking we all might think she was a little do lally but eventually she told her doctor. He told her to stop using her asthma inhaler. It appears that she was using it three times a day as directed on the box. However, she didn't really need it and was overdosing ringing in the ears is actually a side effect of the inhaler.

I never knew that CC! Glad it's better for her now - it can be so annoying.

I think for my mother-in-law it was scary. She is very deaf and I believe it has something to do with that also.

Poor man, the doctor told mother-in-law that tinnitus was caused by stress. Migraine is also stress related I think also allergies seem to make these awful headaches worse.

Re: Anyone got tinnitus?

I have tinnitus due to having music too loud in my youth I think. I can remember being where loud music was being played and there was suddenly a dreadful screeching noise. I asked what on earth the noise was that but it turned out that nobody else had heard it. It seems the screech was inside my head. The ears gone into overload or something maybe.

Another trouble is that we still enjoy going to see all the old 60s groups/singers when they come to our area. Some of them wind the volume up a bit loud sometimes.

Anyway, the result is tinnitus. Not too bad sometimes but once noticed, it seems get louder. The doctor just recommends background noise to lessen the effects. I feel I only have myself to blame for the condition.
