Are you telling me Barry that its 'natural' for a bunch of 'hooray henry' oiks to go galloping over the countryside chasing foxes which are then ripped to shreds by the hounds - all for the sake of pleasure???

To each his own UJ, I mean you seem to get your pleasure by dreaming of lining anyone who doesn't share your views up against a wall and shooting them, and no doubt you would prefer them to be torn to shreds by hounds, so no difference really....

Spot on Barry. Uncle Joe should stick to eating pig pies and lolling in his chair rather than condemning anyone who isn't working class and a communist. Sorry Joe but that's how you come across.

Re: Happy Thursday Folk.

A very late buenas dias from me. My day started with a bang, literally, we had an earthquake, a very loud one, I thought it was a bomb explosion. I then ran across the road to wish my neighbour good luck with her chemo today, then off to meet other friends for a drink and chat for an hour or so, then off to do some shopping, now home and time to start thinking about dinner. Itīs very very hot today, much too hot to be outside for very long.

Re: Happy Thursday Folk.

Afternoon all.

It was sunny this morning, but now very clouding but humid, I have all the fans on and poor Coco is flaked out on the bed with the fan on.

Have been busy at my Mum's again today.

Before Arthritis curtailed my mobility, yes I campaigned and demonstrated on matters I believed were important. Yes I've been a hunt saboteur in my time, yes I've taken part in marches and demostrations, yes I've stood on picket lines, I've even organised a strike which caused a lot of inconvenience to a lot of people, but the Management of the place I then worked saw the error of their ways and things changed (for the better). So, Alan in my time, I have been very active and I still campaign for things I believe in, only now I do so from my armchair, but don't think I have no influence. I know (personally) my local MP and she and I have similar views on many things and I correspond with her fairly frequently.

Re: Happy Thursday Folk.

Joe, I don't doubt for one minute that you are sincere and yes, there's still much injustice in the world but you must realise that not everyone is well off is a bad person. My daughter's partner is rich but he has not always been so. He worked for a wage like the bulk of us do but took the plunge and started his own company with my daughter and another couple of his workmates. They were successful up to the point where they provided employment for some 200 more people. That meant that they had to work so much harder as there were now others dependent on the success of the company. He was a good employer and even went so far as to buy a house for an employee who was going to become homeless. A couple of years ago, when he reached 60 years of age, he sold out to an American company and they all became quite wealthy - that was all down to hard graft and being entrepreneurial in taking the initial risk. No one who witnessed this process would begrudge his success. As I said before, not everyone who is rich is a bad person.
By the way, I was a Trades Union secretary and have stood on picket duty, but I always held the belief that they best way forward was for management and unions to cooperate for the common good.

No Alan, just those who, for their own perverted sick pleasure chase defenseless animals all over the countryside, and to stop them 'running to earth' stop up their lairs. If that description fits your son-in-law, sobeit and I'll not apologise for it.

Re: Happy Thursday Folk.

I've already said that I agree that hunting foxes with hounds is cruel and I don't approve of it. What I do approve of is the continuance of the custom of the meet on boxing day and the ride across the fields. Also I believe in the killing of foxes which do so much damage to the livestock in the fields. You like your lamb ? So do foxes. You like your chicken ? So do foxes.

Re: Happy Thursday Folk.

Is this what 'Happy Thursday' is all about?

I was wanting to ask Jem how his little holiday was now that he is back, and where he went, but he hasn't turned up on this thread today.

Lots of rain here last night, and more due tomorrow. Fortunately the Nadal match at Wimbledon was dry

Looks like digging over the garden soon.
