Re: Governments changes

Oh Roxy, what a todo? So many people unemployed and so many searching for employment. This is a similar situation to the recession of the late 80's which eventually resolved itself but will this one?

It is all very well Indignant of Wherever, saying "If I was unemployed, I'd do anything" .... unfortunately that is not possible, it costs money for an employer to advertise and take someone on, he is not going to expend money looking for a cleaner and take on an accountant who might move on to something better next week. ....

... immigration has just increased the employment problem ....
Is it possible for an Englishman to emigrate is he doesn't have a job? that just crossed my mind, does anyone know the answer?

Re: Governments changes

I know a young couple who have never worked have there own one bedroomed council flat, big plasma screen in the living room with Xbox, computer and Internet. In the bedroom they have another large Plasma telly at the end of the bed. I said to them before christmas about work that I knew this time of year the post office take on extra staff to help with the extra christmas post and why don't they see if you could get a job with them over christmas. There reply "Oh but we would have to fill in a lot of forms and its not really worth it"

Yes, of course it's possible, during the Irish Potato famine millions of Irish people emmigrated to America, today there are many UK people working in Europe, but you need qualifications and some ability in the language.

That sums up the entire problem, if it was not for the over generous benefits that the government hands out people would make the effort, they would either MOVE (like my Dad had to in 1933) or EMIGRATE (Like the Irish potato famine families) or start their own business (Like I had to in 1981) there's always a solution, people will survive but if it's made too easy to exist in the staus quo of course people will opt for benefits and an easy life

Incidentally the descendants of those Irish potato famine familes are probably thanking their lucky stars that they did emigrate 'cos many of them are much better off now than they would have been had their grand parents not moved.
