Well said. That is what I would wish for too.
I'm afraid I can't see it happening, though. Not as long as the present situation prevails, where the establishment looks after the establishment and perhaps condescends to pay some lip service to the masses only in order to ensure they remain in their jobs.
No, the system of party politics is not going to change, or I very much doubt it. They'll look after themselves.
Perhaps I'm being naive, but if MPs were elected individually and, once in parliament, could vote wherever their consciences led them - no pressures from their party leaders or whips - we might have a more public-led system of government.
I'm dreaming, of course!
