Ok, it starts with a camshaft located sort of parallel with the crankshaft, the lobes of the cam operate pushrods, the other end of the pushrod operates a rocker (the rocker shaft is located in the same area as the modern overhead cam) the other end of the rocker operates the valves. Because metal expands when hot, there has to be a clearance to compensate, so there has to be a gap between the rocker and the valve, which needs to ba adjusted on a cold engine.Re: Things that annoy you!
