Re: Cyclists.

I have never seen a single sign in my home town where there are signs which show that a cyclist may ride on the pavement, in my 35 years of driving.
We have very many cycle paths clearly signposted here, the majority of main roads have them. I've also seen them in many other towns too, in the south west.

Cyclists can use the pavement in this part of Wigan.

That road is perfectly set out for the use of everyone.......Time for the rest of the UK to pull their fingers out and do likewise.

Raven darlin' - Brighton Council BUILT cycle lanes all across the town at enormous expence, but some cyclists refuse to use it and cycle on the pavement instead.

Re: Cyclists.

Why are they refusing to use them Joe? Seems the perfect thing...to me anyway. I'd certainly use them. But I've seen some Silly Asses park their cars over them though. W.T.H is that all about.

Its difficult to explain Raven darlin' - you'd need to know the geography of the town to understand the reason.

Re: Cyclists.

There should be some way of fining cyclists who ride on the pavement unless it is marked as a cycle path. At the moment there is no deterrant so there is nothing to stop them doing it. Cyclists in London are a menace to one and all as far as I'm concerned. Onre of these days an elderly person will be knocked down whilst crossing the road with the green man or on a zebra both of which are ignored regularly by cyclists.

Re: Cyclists.

Val darlin' - if cyclists ARE caught there is an On-the-spot fine of £60.00 but there are insufficient numbers of people to actually police it and the fines are derisory. They should increase the fines by a factor of 10 and employ and give authority to increased numbers of traffic wardens to stop and fine these idiots.
