My brother usually a sensible minded person answered his phone to a Microsoft phone call , at the time he was working on his computer . ( a few years back now ) he fell for it and after a discussion believed the call , he actually allowed the man into his computer he watched as a curser clicked and moved around the screen then had a light bulb moment and unplugged the computer in panic . From another phone rang his bank and sure enough someone had got into his online banking minutes before. He had disconnected just in time .
He still can't believe to this day his foolishness but totally believed the call was genuine

Nice one!.

I remember one call that has achieved popularity on youtube where the person who answered the call said they were from the murder squad and wanted to know what relationship the caller had with the deceased.

I used a whistle a couple of years ago: no more scam calls.
And as for busting their eardrums: if you'd been called by elderly neighbours ( as I have ) and seen how terrified they were after getting these calls you'd want to bust more than their eardrums.
