For those of us a certain age, can you remember what you were doing, and where you were in 1957?
Sucking on my rusks, and dribbling down my bib. And happy doing it.

I was 17. Had left school 3 years earlier and well into my apprenticeship as a tv engineer. Cycling and athletics was my life but with so much studying it was difficult balancing everything.

Well I was only 6 but I don't think it was any different from 1956 or 1958, because I still bought the same choccy biscuit, for break, at the grocery shop and I got the same comic each week... in all 3 years.

Re: 1957

I was 7 yrs old , dad was in the RAF and we went to live in Aden . Life was wonderful , when it rained which wasn't often we used to dance outside enjoying the coolness . I remember swarms of locusts which terrified me . Swimming each day after school which finished at 12 noon . We swam in designated areas which were fenced or walled off to keep the sharks out , at times a claxon would sound and it meant that a shark was in the swimming area , we would run out and wait until the claxon sounded again which meant we could all go back into the water . Those times were the happiest memory for us kids .
