Re: Islamaphobia

@ Clumsy, wasnt having a go at you or your comment but this fable that its a religious requirement is often read in press and put out via media on all sides.

Its written in the holy book and in the bible too that women should be modest in their clothing. It states nothing about covering head or hair.
Just being clear about this hijab /niqab /burka thing.

Re: Islamaphobia

I actually have a problem with women wearing the Burka.

I cant even look them in the face, you have no idea if there is a smile or anything else on there face.

You will probably remember when that teacher was banned from wearing the face mask in the classroom, I was disgusted to read SHE was wearing one in the classroom, how could the children possibly know what she thought of the subject she was teaching when they cant see an expression on her face.

Don't get me started Grrrrrrr

Emo - is short for 'emotional' and is a sort of cross between punk and goth. Black is the colour of choice and emo music is very emotionally expressive and confessional. The Cure's Robert Smith predated EMO, but he really embodies the subculture:

I'm not sure what they prove - other than that the majority of people are decent human beings who don't like bullying.

And I actually have a problem with those who try to dictate to others what they should wear .

There are times when I am ashamed to British, coming on here daily and reading the constant stream of anti Muslim posts is one of those times .

I spent 15 years working in a boarding school and sharing a 6th form house with 68 girls half of then Muslim girls from many different countries and they were some of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege of meeting putting many of my fellow countrymen to shame with their generosity and respect for others.

I had to explain to one of these girls why she was spat on by a British a boy when travelling on a train and to others why they were subject to verbal abuse as they went about their business.
The families of these girls bring a lot of money to our country and help to foster good relations between people of many countries .

Of course you can say only a few people behave that way , well equally not all Muslims are bad though you would think so by the majority of post on the subject on this site these days and just because a woman chooses to cover her face does not give small minded people the right to dictate that she should not do so.

Re: Islamaphobia

Meg I think you are being a little unfair on this subject and simply not understanding the views on it
Looking attractive for instance has nothing to do with the dislike of this attire
Its simply the fact that we cannot see the person behind the outfit
I feel the same about hoodies - they look menacing
I had to laugh though, when I was stopped from entering Asda during the winter, because my winter coat has a hood and was asked to remove it
