I sure do Annie, all those fiddly buttons. Sometimes went to school with the Vick and brown paper inside it.

I remember liberty bodices well....hated them, but we still had to wear them in winter. Fastening all those buttons was a pain!

No uncle Joe they were not in fact a 'chastity bodice' would have been a more appropriate name for the ones I wore which were made of a thick fleecy white fabric which went up to the neck and fastened down the front with rubber buttons .
I had an Aunt who always bought me a pair of Liberty Bodices for Christmas , I always found her gift disappointing.

Do you remember the long woollen stockings as well held up by elastic bands, oh and after Christmas the Goose grease rubbed on your chest.

How did we ever make adult hood! I lived in a house with my Mother, grannie ,uncle Paddy and the tree lodgers put on us by the people building the power station in Trafford Park, they were Germans and were called back to Germany just as the war was starting, all smoked hundreds of cigarettes a day, couldnt see across the living room.

I don't remember stockings, but on this side of the Pond my grandma and mom were great believers in goose grease for the chest!

What about (sorry for mentioning this but it is a part of school)NITS. I had long plaits and almost monthly my Mother found I had NITS. OUt with the NIT comb head over a piece of white paper so you could see them and it took nearly all night, then she caught on to who I was sat next too, heads close whilst talking in class. A letter was sent to school and I was moved away from the girl.
