I can't edit my post, but that one is for a Mac computer. Scroll down for the one compatible with a Windows PC.

Re: Watching videos.

The only place I've seen video players is in charity shops, they do recondition and check them.
Nom, vinyl is making a comeback, I've seen quite a few new players in the shops!

Re: Watching videos.

I was going to buy a Panasonic or a Toshiba VHS to DVD recorder but never got round to it and when l did, they'd been discontinued!
I too would love to have my family VHS tapes transferred to DVD but when l looked into it, it was very expensive.
I still have two VHS players that l watch them on. One has a DVD to VHS facility, it's a shame it wasn't the other way round!!

Re: Watching videos.

It has just occurred to me that somewhere we still have a VHS cassette of our wedding day (29 years ago).
Unfortunately, I have now thrown away our old VHS player thinking we'd never have a need for it again, having forgotten about our wedding video.

Now what do I do? (Keep quiet about it, I suppose!)

Re: Watching videos.

The thing is that old vhs tapes will deteriorate over time so they may be unwatchable

I think cassette tapes were much worse: they tend to stretch, being so narrow. Another advantage of VHS tapes over cassettes is that the information is recorded diagonally.

It provides a longer path for the recording head.
