Re: Can anyone advise on camper vans please

My first two vans were based on the Bedford CF. Felt like tanks to drive!
The second one was a genuine 'Dormobile' ie made by Martin Walter conversions, although the name has become generic.

Subsequent ones were based on the Peogeot/Fiat/Citroen base vehicles.
The latest one (Citroen Relay based) is fantastic as it feels like a big car to drive. It is also the first one that feels as if it has been designed by someone who understood what was really needed. Every inch of space has been cleverly utilised, and it does have a shower. Quite a practical one as the toilet/shower cubicle is moulded in one piece from fiberglass, so is leakproof. It is however only for thin people!

Looking behind the panelling, and all the wires and pipes have been very neatly clipped in place and the attention to detail - even in places which will never nornally be seen, is excellent.

Keep us posted on what (if anything) you buy.

They often have a small portapottie chemical loo under the sink area. We did something similar in all our home builds but used a normal height one as those short ones are harder to get up from as you get older we found.

Re: Can anyone advise on camper vans please

Yes they fetch huge money being the "in thing" choice with the young surfing brigade who restore them to truly fantastic standards .

I suspect in todays traffic they are not the best of rides and I believe reliability may be a problem , plus rust.

Depends why you want it, to be trendy and restore it and double your money plus, or touring which I suspect would be like hard labour.

Don't forget the "Beach Boy" cds to complete the package.
