I like the article's first line, "lethal handguns"... you mean there are other sorts?Much ado about nothing and absolutely nothing to do with being part of Europe.

The Swiss are licensed to carry guns and all Swiss Army personnel are allowed to keep their Rifles and uniform at home, even when they leave, and they do not go around shooting people.Should Switzerland be in any danger from attacks, the Army would would be ready and Armed within One Hour
For two months of there year you are allowed if licensed after passing an exam, to go up the mountains and shoot Deer for human consumption
This is the healthiest meat as the Deer only eat mountain herbs and grass.

I suppose you could class the ones seized as being lethal if you beat someone over the head with one!

Yes, you may have soldiers armed...they maybe at their pre-designated areas....but not effective...the command structure would not be in place.

There are 77000 Swiss Army Personnel and 140,0000Reserves who are all mountain trained.
Every healthy Swiss man is Trained Soldier and if the Country was under attack would drop everything including work, and be armed and ready in no time.
They are also equipped with the latest digital equipment.
