I have the remains of a 1kg roll of solder I borrowed from my employer while installing crossbar PABXs in 1966. Unfortunately the flux seems to have dried out so I am forced to use a flux pen with it.Have read about lead free solder but never used any, it sounds pretty terrible.

I think the vast majority of lead pipes have been changed for plastic now although I reckon a good few still exist out in the sticks.
