Re: Influx

Has Spitty recovered from his 40 whacks and what happened to all the flux? Did it just run?

Longy, Shouldn’t that be 40 shacks?

As for the flux? When the going gets tough, the flux get going!

Re: Influx

I have the remains of a 1kg roll of solder I borrowed from my employer while installing crossbar PABXs in 1966. Unfortunately the flux seems to have dried out so I am forced to use a flux pen with it.

Have read about lead free solder but never used any, it sounds pretty terrible.

Had to use the lead free in my plumbing days especially when it was used on drinking water pipes.

Strange considering how many houses in Britain had lead pipework. I believe it was a problem in soft water areas like Glasgow because soft water dissolves the lead

Too much Irnbru going down the crapper.

I think the vast majority of lead pipes have been changed for plastic now although I reckon a good few still exist out in the sticks.

I have no idea about that but the house I lived in in Brixton in the late 60s early 70s had all lead plumbing (that might be tautology)
