Re: Captain Von Trapp

Let's not forget him in one of the Pink Panther films. Always a reliable and safe pair of hands in movies...never saw a bad one with him in it.

RIP

Re: Captain Von Trapp

Never saw "The Sound of Music", never wanted to .....

However, I saw many films with Christopher Plummer in supporting roles and his performances were never less than excellent - among my favourites:

Battle of Britain, Conduct Unbecoming, The Man Who Would Be King, Aces High, Dolores Claiborne, 12 Monkeys .....

Re: Captain Von Trapp

He called the Sou8nd of Music the sound of mucus as it was so sentimental and said it was like being beaten to death with a Hallmark card! Very wittily put I thought..

Petra, l remember people saying they had been to see ‘The Sound Of Music’ on the pictures about 7 times. I was only young then and couldn’t believe how anyone would enjoy seeing a woman singing on the top of a mountain.

Years on when l was married with children, the film was being shown on television, l watched it and l loved it too!

RIP to a legend, what a fabulous career and legacy. Working until almost the end. I didn't realise he was Canadian. Always thought he was a Brit for some reason. That perfectly clipped accent.
The best bit of the whole dreary film!

Re: Captain Von Trapp

It makes me feel old all these stalwarts of film and music shuffling off their mortal coils recently, people I have grown up with and admired all my life. It makes me wonder when it'll be my turn.... RIP Chris....

Re: Captain Von Trapp

Hadn't realised how many films he made - 119, plus 73 TV shows - including 'Jesus of Nazareth' with Robert Powell. He will be missed - especially as there is no matching up and coming talent!
