Re: Do political views change with age?

Choosing a political party often depends on how their policies affect you as an individual, so your circumstances are more likely to influence the way you vote.
The values you were brought up with often set your values in life and sway you to the left or right. Age has never changed my feelings , so I vote for the party I feel will do the better job...but sadly none of the current politicians, from either side, fill me with confidence!

Re: Do political views change with age?

My politics have changed over the years I was labour in my youth, then I saw some sense in the tories, I flirted with the liberals in my 30s and then lost faith when Blair turned out to be more Tory than labour after him I was a bit less political but Jeremy corbyn has reignited my passion for politics having the referendum was first vote I felt anyone listened, being in a safe seat will do that to you. I'm back to where I started but more so these days. Reaction to tories and their policies that hurt so many I think.

So yes it changes but it can come full circle.

Yes I've changed too I was always Labour and even voted Tony Blair in, BUT that's the last time I ever did vote for them, as they became New Labour and far too Tory in their ways.

I think I've voted for every party going except UKIP. Partly, it's because in local and Scottish parliamentary elections you get the choice of voting for more than one candidate.

Yes I've changed from voting for one particular party to another in recent years...but now..I have absolutely no faith in any of Them as They're all as BAD as each other as They don't give a good godamn for anyone but Themselves..so..I'm opting out..let the chips fall where they may without My input

It changed for me. I was always slightly towards the left when I was younger, I suppose I followed my parents views but now I am more towards the right.

Re: Do political views change with age?

I don't think people change their basic outlook on life much, but I do think that experience makes people more realistic in their expectations.
I have to say however, that, although I am still as left wing as I have always been, I am a great deal less liberal - especially as regards identity politics, which I see as a deliberate distraction (encouraged by the political elite) from the real issues facing us. For example, we live in one of the richest countries in the world, yet when we have thousands of people relying on food banks to eat, hundreds of thousands waiting for operations in an underfunded NHS, and many hundreds of young women being abused by men from Muslim communities who regard them as less than human, our media only seems to want us discussing the correct pronoun to use when referring to transgender people, or the crimes of MPs who touch a woman's knee or any number of other less crucial aspects of life.
