There are 'wild' birds at Paignton too, but none that exotic. Gulls, garden birds & the zoo's Peacocks/hens are free range & everywhere.
We were told they have wild foxes living in the grounds too.

I imagine zoos must feel like a pretty safe environment for some native wild animals and birds, (provided they don't wander into the wrong enclosures). We also saw a lot of Jackdaws, the first ones I've seen in all the years I've lived here.
