Re: who do you buy Christmas gifts for

We buy for each other, my mother in law and the grandchildren. We tend to take our sons out for a meal after the Christmas rush.

I buy Christmas presents for the local dog and cat charities here too.
Normally food and blankets.

I also donate to my local cancer charity at Velindre Hosptal in Cardiff in memory of many lost love ones.

Re: who do you buy Christmas gifts for

Nowadays it's just my wife really.
I do give my wife some money to put towards presents for her daughters, other halves and grandkids as well.
I have a nephew whom I buy a present as well, but that's about it.
Unfortunately my mother is unable to understand Christmas or presents as she has dementia, so it's now rather pointless buying her much at all. I'd buy her clothing but it gets lost around the care home, so it's a waste of money tbh.

Re: who do you buy Christmas gifts for

We buy for our son, daughter and son-in-law.

We also put money in our little grandson's savings account, but no present as his birthday is on Dec 20th so he gets a gift from us then. He'll be three this year, so still too young to realise what we've done!

And we buy for each other, but have a £20 limit each, which really concentrates the mind and often results in some quirky gifts!

Immediate family, nothing else as it rather gets out of hand IMO.

Immediate family only here, too, and only then after much research - I hate the thought of wasting money on things nobody wants!

Re: who do you buy Christmas gifts for

I don't buy a single one.
Haven't for the last ten years or more.

With no kids or grandkids and mum and dad gone , I don't bother. It's a family thing isn't it really for kids? For seeing their little faces light up when they see mum and dads credit card bill .. sorry, that should have read when they unwrap their presents.

I did go wild a few years back and suggested to Mr M that instead of buying each other a present .. we bought one for ourselves instead and gave it to ourselves on Christmas Day.
I did splash out a bit then and it was quite nice as a one off.

Immediate family & close friends, also for 5 of my pen pals here & abroad. Falklands, South Africa, America, then here, Leeds, Nottingham. Stopped sending to others when they decided no more, as it costs too much.
