I've thought the same Aysa. We will not accept. We will always interfere and want to change things and pollute habitats.

The trouble is that the pictures don't show the whole story, just as an example most of the 'smoke' from the lignite power station is actually water vapour from the cooling towers, only the smaller central stack could be 'smoke'. Most power stations whether they burn thermal coal or brown coal have bag houses so no ash (smoke) is released into the atmosphere. The ash is used in making concrete and has value.

Do you realise that the entire population of the planet would fit as a loose crowd in North Yorkshire? (probably the best place for them)

Sorry I don't subscribe to the 'Woe is me' black armband view of humankind.

I don't really do lighthearted

Re: We are killing the planet

What makes you think that we are killing the planet?
Yes, you can show pictures of wastelands that are the results of mining.
But for every picture there are an equal number showing how nature has recovered land that has been abandoned by industry.
Carbon Dioxide is a natural product and has been present in our environment ever since time began, climate change is a natural phenomena - it has never stood still.
The Arctic ice cap is receding like we have never witnessed before, but the Antarctic ice cap is increasing.
Some places that once were habitable are becoming un-inhabitable and vice versa.
Weather patterns are changing, but it is not anything that hasn't happened before.
The changes that are possible on this planet will happen without our help and nature will find it's own level. Planet Earth does not run on Oil, Gas or coal, but we do, and it will be us that might become extinct.
So no, 'We are not killing the planet' but it will kill us, eventually.
