I don't particularly like "what ifs". What if our isolationists had prevailed and we hadn't joined in WWII? What if we'd lost the Pacific war, and if the RAF hadn't prevailed in the Battle of Britain? What if we hadn't accepted the German refugees who helped develop the atomic bomb? It's possible to play "what if" all night...What's the saying about those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it......

We should start another thread "what if" doncha think.
Yeah, . . what if the brave sailors who sailed over the North Sea in those mini-subs during WW2 to sink the Tirpitz, . . . after cutting through antisubmarine nets then maneuvering their craft under the battleship, then dropping the Amatol explosives under the hull, they surfaced and told the German captain what they had done.
It gave him enough time to move the Tirpitz a bit so when the charges did go off only minimal damage was done, . . our lads said later they felt it unfair and unsporstsmanlike not to warn him, . . . this resulted in a squadron of Lancasters flying to Russia to bomb the thing a year later.

What if there were never `airfix kits?`And I was even more keen-I used to buy rather obscure brands to get the model that only got beyond the prototype .
Funny how no shopkeeper said I could not buy glue,paint or a sharp knife back then.
I guess `humbrol` was not a classified drug??

I think 'O-My Dope' was the make I used.What if Archduke Franz Ferdinand hadn't been assassinated? There might not have been a First World War that hacked a young Hitler off so much that he led Germany into a Second World War.
