Re: in your coffin

Have to say its mostly cremations I hear of nowadays.

I do think expensive funerals are needless.

My friend was buried in a wicker coffin.

Re: in your coffin

I think it's important people have what they want, my MIL was buried it cost a bomb with all the trappings but it was what she wanted and she had planned and left money to pay for it so we did it for her. My Dad wanted cheapest easiest cremation he could have and had already given his plan to the humanist guy who led his service before he died.

Both very different wishes but both had what they wanted and I wouldn't say either was needless or wasteful just different.

Re: in your coffin

What do people think of pre paid funerals?

Something less the family would have on their mind.

I'd rather have a cheaper funeral and leave money to my family.

As if that'll happen!

They are a good idea and it means the person gets what they want and not what everyone else thinks is right.

Yes Julie, I suppose its like weddings. Some like big bashes and others more intimate affairs. Everyone's personal choice.

Re: in your coffin

I have a theory that if one is cremated, then its not possible to come back and haunt people that you dislike when alive. So, with that in mind, I think that I can be buried with a pump action shotgun and a lot of cartridges!

Re: in your coffin

My old dead bag of bones are going to Med students to practice on prior to being let lose on the living.
Don't have the dosh or desire to spend massive amounts on a pointless funeral. I certainly don't want to leave my kids with such a bill.

Re: in your coffin

Noddy, I'd also hate to leave my family a bill.

That's why there have been so many elderly people who are malnourished and cold. Too busy putting money away for their funeral, instead of living for the day and looking after themselves. Its a shame.
