God rest his soul. I did like Ernest Borgnine although I could never pronounce his surname. I loved him in that film with Charles Bronson when he played the hobo-basher carrying a pickaxe handle shouting "Get off my train". Cant remember the name of it though...Ah I think it was called 'Emperor of the North".

One of my husband's & my favourite movies is Marty. We've watched it a few times so far. They don't make movies like that anymore. No explosions.

The acting was so superb, everyone so natural. The woman that played his mother was very good too.

I loved Ernest Borgnine as well. Jem, his surname is pronounced Borg nine, not Borgneen as some people say.

Sorry to hear he's died. He was a brilliant actor.

Fair play to you for pointing that out Mollie, I don't believe I know one person who could pronounce it properly, I've heard him called everything from Ernest Bogman to Ernest Bugger, rest his soul.

Yea Ernie was 'unique' - most of the actors back then had their unique qualities, unlike today - whos unique !!! Tom Cruise !!!
