Most of the holidaymakers these days go to the caravan sites in Towyn and Prestatyn. Nearly all the guest houses in Rhyl are gone now, they were turned into flats that attracted the unemployed. There is a large green space now where many of the former guest houses have been knocked down.

Rhyl is a North Wales Seaside resort with stunning Beaches once very popular with folk from Merseyside and the MidlandsNow it is rundown and is the unemployment Capital of North Wales and it's unemployment claims are 4 times the national average.
The introduction of cheap flights to Spain meant many B& B's went out of business and were turned into flats.
It needs someone on the City Council with vision to organize modernization of the whole town.
It is a sad state of affairs when most of the population can only afford to shop in £1.00 shops.
The Government are still reluctant to invest in areas of high unemployment such as Rhyl and many towns in the North of England.
They would get their investment back many fold if they did the right thing and invested in the poorer areas of the UK.

The town centre is in serious decline. A few years ago some of the few big name stores moved to a new retail development in Prestatyn. The M & S store in Rhyl moved to Prestatyn and is now a Poundland in the town centre. The new £1 shop on the Marina Quay development is a Poundworld. Rhyl is a dumping ground for drugs and alcohol dependants from Manchester and Liverpool.
I used to fish from there on the charter boats, no longer, it is simply not safe to leave your car there.

You're right about cars not being safe, I had mine vandalised in a supermarket car park, they'd been unsuccessful in breaking into it.
