A lot of shops seem to double batter the fish and as you say it never really gets cooked.

Well more where they fry the fish in batter , then scoop round the pan for the bits that drop off. They will usually give you a scoopful, very nice too they are.
Think it might be more of a Midland or Northern thing though.

I find a portion of chips from the chippie can do 2-3 meals. I put the remainder in the fridge, then refry another portion with something another day, like eggs, or sausages. I rarely buy fish. Morrisons do a very good fish & chips meal.

If I have chips left over I usually pop them in the MIC. for a couple of minutes.
