Talking of swearing. After I finally hung up my cricket boots I did a little bit of umpiring. Two of the younger members of the side I had played for started chuntering and swearing.I waited until the over was over and then called the captain and the lads over saying something along the lines of-
Cricket is a game for gentlemen,when you (the colts) get to play for England against Australia then you can say whatever you like but this is village cricket and while I`m stood here I expect you two to keep it civil.
They came up at the end of the game and said -we`re sorry sir.
Perhaps it was because I knew their house master??
