Re: And another one bites the dust!!!

I think the people on the bench were mortified to see a firm of Solicitors engage a QC as their mouthpiece against a poor woman whom they could see was very distraught and distressed. She shook like a leaf the whole way through.

The comical thing about it was when the Court went to recess for lunch the Barrister asked ME if we'd like to settle out of Court.

I told him that we shouldn't be discussing the case out of earshot of the bench and that Mrs S was determined to go the distance with this one.

No Mollie darlin' a conciliated settlement is always possible. I used to be a judge on the tribunal panel too for a while. One morning when about to summon the parties into the Tribunal, they sent a message to say they were conciliating and could they have a little time. We agreed, and there we sat till lunchtime. We adjourned for lunch and on return found that the parties had agreed a settlement and had already gone home!!!

Mags darlin' - I'm here to help. As I said in my 'profile' I was a founder member of a neighbourhood Law Centre when the Law Centre movement spread from the U.S. to here in the 1970s. When the Centre closed for lack of funding following the withdrawal of a local authority grant in 1995, I took back my personal case-load (30 files) and completed those cases working from home. I have continued to provide advice and representation ever since working purely on a word-of-mouth recommendation from previous clients who have been spreading the word.

Sorry, but there was no way this would have been settled out of Court, because my friend would have got a lesser payout. She was happy with the outcome, but her employers were not!
