My life long motto is the same one my Father always had, "Never depend on anything until you have it in your hand.", especially when it's coming by post., I never take anything for granted, it helps to avoid disappointments.

Re: What saying do you live by?

My father always use to say to me: Don't do anything you would not like me to hear of................. and though he has been dead for nearly 50 years I still live my life by those words.

But as for my own saying..........Do unto others as you would wish to be done by!...........sounds grammatically wrong but still.

Re: What saying do you live by?

My dad always used to say "If you haven't got the money in cash, then you can't afford it."

That held good for me until I bought my house on mortgage, and my car by monthly payments, both of which are now paid off.

As a result, I've never in my life owned a credit card, only a debit card and I pays for what I gets.

I also believe in that old Water Babies quote by Charles Kingsley: Do as you would be done by, and be done by as you did.
