Re: Where will people live in the future?
There is also another side to the story . I know of a lady who lives alone in a 3 bed social housing property . She has been offered a lovely one bed bungalow , they offered to move her free of charge and help her in any way . She has lived there alone 20 yrs since her 2 sons left. She retired at 60 because she gets pension credits , pays no rent or council tax . She says the house was given to her for life and she's staying .Re: Where will people live in the future?
HiRe: Where will people live in the future?
I agree with Julie on this because when you have lived in a house for a while it becomes your home, whether you buy or rent it. I have a large farmhouse where I live by myself and I am intending to downsize because it is now to big for me to look after, but I will still be upset when I have to leave it.Re: Where will people live in the future?
Shipping container homes? Some of those might be OK for single people or couples. Two or more could be welded together for families.Re: Where will people live in the future?
Re: Where will people live in the future?
But round here it's not the cost of the house that is the problem it's the land, when we sold my MILs house we got more for the land it stood on than the house it's self was worth. House £40,000 v land £260,000 we obviously sold the land and the house was demolished !Re: Where will people live in the future?
I'm apalled to see acres and acres of green land being gobbled up for 'Jerry built' modern housing while acres of brown field land lies vacant.
