Ania isn't it a heavenly spot If it wasn't such a very long drive in a tinny little car I would be off tomorrow to my favourite cottage down there below Cardigan with its own little beach .
Meg.

Sounds like an ideal solution Meg. You could always have a stopover half way.

Why don't you browse through what's an exciting change to book and spoil yourself for Christmas, if you're brave enough. That would really be a test of survival and shock 'em all. Let someone else cook, wash up, clean round after guests, and have all the worry of organising everything.
Now would that be 'out of character' enough Meg?

Mups I hate Christmas and wouldn't like to be anywhere but home with Chloe.
I don't cook for anyone else at Christmas either, I stopped that years ago .

Re: Doing something out of character

Yes, I'd love to do something totally out of character, but being pretty mad anyway, probably nobody would notice.

There is a very good case for us more 'senior' citizens taking risks. I don't understand statistics, but it's all to do with the risk of dying. When you're young, the chance of snuffing it, is very low and many activities are very risky. However, the older you get, these activities become relatively less risky so you might as well have a go.

So, have a tandem parachute jump, go white water rafting or something daft.

What about a wee overnight break in a pet friendly hotel? Dinner, bed and breakfast. Have a nice walk, a nice bath. Chill and watch tv. No cooking, no dishes. I've done that a few times and it's a wee change. A change is as good as a rest they say.

...No thank you Alice I am very partial to my own beautiful cotton sheets and the thought of a hotel does nothing for me at all .
As I live alone I don't have to cook anyway if I choose not to.

As the 'offenders' are away on holiday in the Canaries they wouldn't even notice my 'grand gesture' anyway .
